In response to the way that All-Party Parliamentary Groups function and the APPG on North Korea’s AGM in June 2015, changes to the Group’s structure, governance, and purpose have been announced.
Fiona Bruce MP and Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP now join Lord Alton as Co-Chairs of the Group. Baroness Cox, Gary Streeter MP, Lord German, and Andrew Selous MP are all Vice-Chairs of the Group. Lord Clarke remains as Treasurer, whilst David Amess MP, Mark Pritchard MP, and Baroness Berridge all serve as Secretaries.
To reflect the purpose of the APPG’s work in current parliamentary term, it’s purpose has been revised. As such, the APPG now seeks ‘To formulate solutions that promote and support human rights, democracy and security in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea; to establish relations with the exiled North Korean community to foster understanding of the DPRK and the challenges which face its people; and to explore meaningful relations between the parliaments of the UK and the DPRK’.
